Adrienne Worstell, Director

Professional Experience:
In December of 2007, Adrienne graduated from the University of Missouri, Columbia with a Bachelor of Science in Education with Certification in Instrumental Music K-12. During the 2008-2009 school year she taught for the Olathe, Kansas School District as an Elementary Orchestra Specialist. During this time, Adrienne taught fifth and sixth grade orchestra classes at five elementary schools.
Before teaching in Olathe, Adrienne completed her Student Teaching Internship in Lee's Summit, Missouri. Here she worked under Joseph Keeney at Lee's Summit North High School and Bernard Campbell Middle School as well as Nancy Roark at Longview Farm Elementary.
From 2005--2007 Adrienne taught for the Missouri String Project at the University of Missouri while completing her degree program. For the String Project, she taught group lessons to third and fourth grade string students as a team teacher and as a solo teacher. During this time Adrienne also taught private violin, viola, cello, and bass lessons for the Community Music Program and individually contracted students. Her private students ranged in age from 6 to 50.
At the University of Missouri, Columbia Adrienne also served as the MU chapter President of the Collegiate Music Educator's National Convention. She performed in the University Philharmonic, University of Missouri Cello Choir, and numerous Chamber Music Ensembles. Adrienne received multiple Awards and Scholarships from the School of Music including: Friends of Music Scholarship, Kathleen Kabrick String Award, and the Dorothy Miller String Award.
Personal Life:
Adrienne has an enormous passion for teaching music. She is high energy in front of a classroom and likes to get things done. She has played the cello since she was five years old and knew she wanted to be a teacher at the age of 10. Her father is currently a Choral Director in the Kansas City area, her older sister is a music teacher at a Private School in Kansas City, and her younger sister is currently attending the University of Missouri, Columbia majoring in Vocal Performance. Her mother has been a clinical social worker for thirty years.
Adrienne recently married Steven Worstell on November 29, 2008. They relocated to Huntsville from Kansas City in June of 2009. Her husband currently serves as Associate Pastor to Youth at Southside Baptist Church.
